Photojournalism is a natural in the world of advertising.
The photojournalist’s images of real people living through real moments
of their lives contain startling pathos and power that can seldom be duplicated
in a studio shot. Unexpected images from far-flung locales or right in our own
back yards provide counterpoint to ad campaigns which can often tell your story
better than a more traditional photo.
Advertisers sometimes worry that photojournalism can be hard to license. However,
most photojournalistic images are either immediately available for advertising
usage or can be quickly and inexpensively released.
Our Kennerly.com “Where
Photojournalism and Advertising Meet” gallery is a small selection
of images from David Hume Kennerly’s archive that are available for advertising
usage.

Photo du Jour:
A Picture-a-Day Journey through the First Year of the New
Millennium
by David Hume Kennerly |
Photo du Jour is
Kennerly‘s personal visual diary of the year 2000, featuring his best picture
of each day for a year, as he traveled the country, and the world, on various
photo assignments. Includes rare and comprehensive coverage of the 2000 U.S. Presidential
campaigns.
Artistic, poignant and thought-provoking
black-and-white images include people, landscapes and nature, cityscapes and architectural
structures, large and small events, famous landmarks, and some personal Kennerly
family photos. His personal narrative is woven throughout, providing anecdotes
and background stories. Though Photo du Jour contains some international photos,
it is largely a portrait of America and Americans from coast-to-coast.
Photo du Jour is available
online at Amazon.com.
